1 Timothy 6:7
“For we brought nothing in this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
With this verse Egyptian mummification comes to mind. The dead Pharaohs would be buried with their most precious possessions; their chariots, jewelry, food, and even their servants. How unfortunate for the servants that had to lay down their lives to serve their masters in the afterlife. But our culture is the same way. We strive for wealth and material possession even unto death. But Christ calls us to strive for righteousness and be content with Him alone.
Application: we should be investing in our afterlife. It is there with Christ that we will truly be content and the riches will never fade.
