James 5:11

“You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord-that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.”

It does not take us long to realize that life on this earth isn’t rainbows and butterflies all the time.  We go through hardships, changes, and hurts.  The hardships we go through seem to not be such a big deal compared to Job.  His trials were huge!  But that does not diminish, or make less the hardships we go through.  God sees us individually and does not compare our problems to someone else’s.  It is comforting (even in trial) to remember that nothing happens outside of God’s control.  The Lord may allow us to go though something difficult or He may lead us though a valley.  But He is faithful to carry us through.  He is faithful to set our feet on solid ground again.  The key word in this verse is “intended”.  Jesus knows what He is doing in our lives.  He does not want to bring us to nothing.  He wants to build our faith.  When it is tested He wants us to remain faithful as He is faithful.  He cares for us, His mercy will always be enough, and He wishes to bless us.
