Romans 13: 12-14
“The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”
Paul was not shy in warning the church about what to stay away from. He did not sugar coat sin. He called it what it was. The things he named in the verses above were common practices in Roman society, just as they are now common practices in our society. They are sins committed in darkness, but not only “darkness” as in the time of day but in darkness of heart. The light Jesus gives us remains even after the sun has gone.
Application: Wake up asking for a full portion of Jesus. We do not leave the house without our basic necessities; shoes, clothes. Put on Christ before you start the day.
