1 Peter 1
Peter is talking to the church about the characteristics that will set them apart from the world. Peter is encouraging them to live a holy life, and cast off their sins that separate them from union with Christ. But notice he is not condemning them. He understands the pull of the world and is encouraging the church to focus. We are naturally so focused on what is happening in the world because this world is all we know. Peter is encouraging the church to look towards the heavenly things. Our true purpose is to commune with God and help other people build a relationship with Him. We are all called to ministry.
